You will find that there are plenty of helicopter tours from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. You’ll discover air only flights and choices that combine rafting with them. For those looking, the following article focuses on some of the most popular flight choices. What you will discover is that all these choices will result in a fascinating experience.

A Quick Overview

These Las Vegas helicopters will only travel to the Grand Canyon West which is known as the West Rim. You will find that this part of the canyon is located only 125 miles from Las Vegas. Flight time is 45 minutes. Those wanting a South Rim helicopter flight will have to bundle that with a bus or airplane ride.

As look at the West Rim shows it is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation that is located on the border of Grand Canyon National Park. The rim has a number of things it is famous for, including the 70 foot Skywalk. In this spot, you will find it is the only location that allows you to fly to the bottom.

West Rim Helicopter Tours

You will note that there are two kinds of helicopter tours: Air Tours as well as Bottom-Landing Tours. Here are Details :

1. Air Only. Fly out of Vegas. Goes over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Will fly back over the West Rim and give you a view of Skywalk, Colorado River, Guano Point, Grand Cliffs Wash and Eagle Point. Plan on 4 hours for this tour and keep in mind it does come with complimentary hotel shuttle service.

2. A Look at Landing Tours. These trips follow the same route as the air tours but land in the Reservation. Specifically:

A. Standard Bottom Landing. Descends 4,000 feet to the bottom of the canyon. Here, you will disembark and enjoy a champagne breakfast, brunch or possibly a toast. Then explore the floor and riverbank. Overall, the trip lasts 5 hours and does come with free shuttle service.

B. Bottom Landing with Boat & Skywalk. Along with the above-mentioned one, it includes a boat ride down the Colorado River along with VIP passes to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. This will last 6 hours and will offer free transportation to and from Las Vegas hotels.

C. Your Skywalk tour. Offers landing at the Grand Canyon West Airport. Shuttle to the Glass Bridge. Unlimited access on the observation deck, plus about two hours to explore the rim. Some of the sights will include Guano and Eagle points as well as the Indian Cultural Center.

Always Book in Advance

These are the most popular tours from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon and they sell out quickly. It is best to reserve your spot at least a week in advance. Doing this last minute can be problematic and is often best only done if you are going to be traveling alone.

Purchase your tour while in Las Vegas and you’ll be overcharged. In an effort to get the best deal, take a look at the following steps:

1. Always book in advance (the earlier the better!)

2. Make sure you get your tour online.

3. Finalize the entire transaction.

I’m very particular about number three. Should you give an agent the chance to complete your online booking, there is a good chance you will pay too much. As a rule, modern websites will end up being secure and safe for you to use. Anymore, this is the only way I will buy and I personally have never had an issue before.

Parting Words

There is no better place than to go from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon by helicopter. There’s a lot of variety and prices are competitive. Further, the West Rim is less than 1 hour away. This is the only National Park that will allow you to fly to the bottom. While planning your trip to Sin City, make sure you include a canyon helicopter ride. This is going to be the time of your life.

If you are ever in the vicinity of the Grand Canyon, do yourself a favour and enjoy a Grand Canyon Float Trip. If you choose to raft in the Grand Canyon, you will not be required to know how to raft. Your motorized raft will give you and your fellow passengers plenty of opportunities to relax and chat about the spectacular scenery.

You won’t be shooting any rapids because this is a family-oriented Grand Canyon float trip. This specific Grand Canyon rafting tour, which drifts down a quiet river, is for anyone who is over the age of three. There will be about twenty or so other passengers in the raft with you.

This Grand Canyon water rafting trip is an all-day experience. Beginning around 6:30 a.m., it lasts about 12 ½ hours. You will tour the East Rim and beautiful Navajo Reservation via a bus or minivan. From there, you’ll ride through the remarkable Painted Desert until you arrive at Glen Canyon Dam. This is where you and the other tour passengers will enter the motorized raft.

Once you have journeyed for two hours on the raft, you will land and have a chance to look at the Native American artwork that is on etched into the sides of the mountains. When you’re done, you’ll have plenty of time for a relaxing lunch on the beach. After lunch, you’ll re-board your raft and continue your relaxing trip down the river. Your minivan or luxury motor coach will pick you up when you arrive at Lees Ferry and return you to your hotel after another scenic drive.

You can also go in a different direction on this Grand Canyon float trip. Instead of going from the Grand Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry, you can go from Lees Ferry to the Grand Canyon Dam. Once again, you will be picked up once it is over and travel the South Rim back to your hotel room. You can go on each of these Grand Canyon float trips during the periods of March 1st through November 15th.

If bus rides are not your favorite form of transportation or you have experienced a Grand Canyon rafting trip in the past, then you might want to do a Colorado water rafting tour instead. Or, you could also opt for a Grand Canyon Old West Jeep tour instead. You might also want to consider spending twelve hours enjoying both of these tours. You will be picked up in the morning between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. at either Williams or Flagstaff by jeep. You’ll then embark on a two-hour journey through the Coconino National Forest and the Navajo Reservation to Page, Arizona. After you leave the isolated city of Page, Arizona, you will drive through a two mile tunnel through the mountains until you get to your destination of Glen Canyon Dam. At this point, you will get into your raft and go down a pleasurable 15 mile rafting excursion down the Colorado River. You will stop for lunch and then walk over to the see some beautiful Native American artwork. You could also have a quick swim or do a little bird watching.

Then, it’s back into your raft to continue your rafting tour on to Lees Ferry. At this time, your will ride the bus back to the start point of Flagstaff or Williams. But, before you start back for the return trip, you will go to the Cameron Trading Post. You will have a chance to pick up some souvenirs and get some food and drinks for the road trip back to your hotel. You can get these tours during the period of March 15th and October 15th.

If you like to travel in style, you will love the adventure and comfort offered through Grand Canyon air tours. There are other ways to make your way through the Canyon, but an airplane allows you to see more of the scenery in one big swoop. There are seven things to think about prior to packing your bags and heading out for this adventure:

1. Select a starting destination for your air trip.

There is more than one place you can hop aboard a Grand Canyon airplane tour. The top four options happen to all be located in Arizona: Flagstaff, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Sedona. Las Vegas is the least expensive. Since flights from Arizona are pricey, consider renting a vehicle. You will need to make your way to Tusayan, Arizona to the Grand Canyon Airport if you want to board a South Rim tour.

2. Which rim catches your attention?

Only the South and West rims are open to air travel. The tour over the West Rim only lasts for about twenty-five minutes and boards from Las Vegas; it offers the most entertainment. You cannot beat the scenic views enjoyed from the South Rim tour, which lasts forty-five minutes and ventures further out from Las Vegas.

3. Does the Grand Canyon Skywalk Interest You?

This attraction is at the West Rim, also known as Grand Canyon West. The “Glass Bridge” defies gravity by extending 70 feet past the edge and suspending guests 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. The sparkle and shine across the bridge is simply amazing when the sun is shining and you are sailing from the above. If you want to brave the Skywalk, Grand Canyon airplane tours can be booked with this privilege. And, if that’s not enough, you can include a Las Vegas Strip flyover on the return!

4. Would You Rather Your Flight Go Down?

This is another entertainment option only open for West Rim trips. This trip must be enjoyed by helicopter, so you will be asked to get off your airplane and board the helicopter at the appropriate time. You will view four geological eras passing through millions of years as you drop 4,000 feet into the Grand Canyon. The amazing scenery includes a variety of spires, buttes, and cliffs. Not only do you get to wander around on the floor of the Grand Canyon, but you get to toast the experience with champagne while doing it.

5. Do you want to go river rafting?

Colorado River rafting is available at both rims. A West Rim rafting adventure may start upstream, or it may start with a helicopter trip to the Hoover Dam base where downstream rafting is offered. The more adventurous at heart will prefer to take the South Rim rafting adventure, which includes a spectacular airplane right to the East Rim (Glen Canyon Dam) and a 15.5 mile rafting adventure through Antelope Canyon; it all ends at Lee’s Ferry.

6. How Much Can You Tolerate In a Day?

This is almost a toss up. You will see a lot just by flying from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon Airport. Unfortunately, you can’t say you saw it all unless you take the Grand Discovery tour offered by the Grand Canyon Airline. I will never understand why more people do not take advantage of this tour. It gives you a little bit of all rims, including Kaibab Plateau and Dragoon Corridor on the South Rim, Desert View Watchtower, Zuni Corridor, and the Navajo reservation on the East Rim, and Imperial Point on the North Rim. This could be the most important fifty minutes of your life.

7. A Note Regarding Online Reservations

The market for Grand Canyon airplane tours is competitive. You are bound to see a lot of offers. Ignore them. You will always get a better rate if you deal directly with tour operators. You can trust Grand Canyon Airlines to deliver the best prices and the best air tours. Here’s a tip: go to their website and look around for deals. You will find savings up to thirty-five percent offered routinely.

Flying is one of the best Grand Canyon tours out there. Be it West Rim or South Rim, you’ll see pretty much see it all. Your trip will be even more enjoyable if you add on a visit to the Skywalk, the Colorado River for a bit of rafting, or take that extra flight time over the Las Vegas strip. They are also the fastest way to go from Las Vegas to the South Rim. With that online discount of 35%, you will get a great deal for an affordable and enjoyable tour. So kick off your shoes, recline your seat, and prepare for departure. These tours make it more enjoyable and much easier to get to the Grand Canyon and enjoy this piece of marvelous nature.

Air excursions over the National Park are incredible. For the best, travel writer Jenny Ducate suggests these airplane rides: http://www.grandcanyonairplanetours.net/

With regards to rafting the Grand Canyon, most think of pricey seven-day white water excursions. The alternative? The one-day smooth water float excursion. Soothing and enjoyable, these types of South Rim journeys are so affordable that even the most economical traveller is going to be pleased.

This specific float vacation begins by getting on a luxury bus and driving 140 miles east from Grand Canyon National Park to Glen Canyon Dam in Page, AZ. Here your coach is going to drive down the dam’s two-mile access tunnel until you get to the base and get on your motorized pontoon raft.

Now you’ll push off into smooth water and drift amongst canyon walls until you reach spectacular Horseshoe Bend, the well-known “U” that combines the best of the area’s orange sandstone cliffs along with the river’s dazzling emerald waters. Onward, you’ll get out at a sandy beach and take a short walk to a cliff wall in which ancient inhabitants left petroglyphs.

One of the great things about these all-inclusive journeys are the boatmen. These river guides navigate the river with skill and ease. Most are experts in geology and natural history and are happy to reply to your questions regarding the region’s distinctive rock formations, ample wildlife, and past explorers such as Major John Wesley Powell. It’s typical to tip your guide if you found him or her particularly helpful.

The river begins to widen and also the vegetation begins to thicken as you head further west in the direction of the historical town of Lee’s Ferry, portal to the Grand Canyon. It is the sole spot for the following 260 miles in which you are able to cross the Colorado River. Still standing are a vintage fort plus a trading post. John D. Lee, under a commission from the Mormon Church, developed and run the ferry, which turned outdated in 1928 once the Navajo Bridge had been finished. The town now serves as the beginning for all white-water expeditions.

At Lee’s Ferry, you’ll transfer to your luxurious motor coach and begin the return journey to your South Rim accommodation. En route, you will see the mystical Navajo Indian Reservation and also the unique Painted Desert, and you’ll halt at the Cameron Trading Post, a great place to purchase real Native American crafts.

The Grand Canyon smooth water float trip along with luxury coach is all-inclusive as well as includes free hotel shuttle service, lunch, and drinks. Summer journeys can become hot and I strongly recommend you carry sunscreen as well as a hat and drink lots of water. Bring a swimsuit or wear one under your clothes if you desire to take a swim. This is all-day trip is appropriate for ages 4 years and up.

The list price of this excursion is a bargain. If you would like the best offer, purchase your journey on the Internet. I suggest this strategy to friends and family. It’s not unusual to find this deal offered at a 35% reduction. Purchase your seats in advance, too. Rafts transport around 15 and 22 people. Being that this is one of the most popular day journeys on the South Rim, seats sell out fast.

Canyon float tours are perfect for travelers who want no rapids as they go down the Colorado River. The 15.5-mile trip starts at Glen Canyon Dam and ends at Lee’s Ferry. In between, you’ll experience some the most stunning scenery in Western U.S. You’d think a trip such as this one would break the bank. Not so! So come aboard one and all, and see the Colorado River in all its calm splendor.

1-day Grand Canyon rafting tours are exciting for the whole family. Go here for additional information about these float trips.

If you are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon and want to enter from Las Vegas, you have to consider luxury coach trips. If you think a luxury trip is out of your reach, you might rethink that idea after reading this article. Traveling by bus happens to be one of the most affordable ways to enjoy the Grand Canyon. It’s also the reason travelers sign up for them in droves. Since these trips are so popular and affordable, you should try to book your seats as much in advance as possible. Not only is advance booking essential for this type of trip, it is recommended for all of the following reasons:

1. You won’t get bumped. Nearly 40 million people visit Las Vegas each year. Many people travel in groups, but family trips and solo travelers are common as well. A Grand Canyon bus tour will be on the agenda of many of these travelers each year. This popularity makes booking a trip on short notice risky. Last minute reservations often end up on a waiting list. There are no guarantees that you will be placed on a bus. All it takes is a corporate group showing up in the final hour to get you bumped from the trip completely; and I know that from personal experience. I would have been spared that displeasure had I just called ahead of time to book my seats.

2. You get the best seats. Try to grab seats toward the front or middle of the bus. Not only will you get the best views, but you will have better air circulation as well. Keep in mind that most tour companies will move from front to back when booking seats. If you want to land seats toward the front of the bus, you will have to get your reservations in before those seats are assigned to others. You can expect the same thing if you are booking seats for a group: If your reservation is last minute, your people will be scattered about the bus or negotiating with other passengers to swap seats.

3. You get to relax. Trip planning can be exhausting and time intensive. I personally prefer to bypass the headache of booking trips after arriving on destination. It’s a headache and in the end you most likely won’t get what you want. Lock-down your bus tour before you get to Vegas and it’s simply a matter of getting a wake-up call and boarding the bus.

4. Priority scheduling is at your fingertips. The weather in this area of the country can be difficult to predict. Many coach trips are cancelled because the wind is too strong or snow is falling. Unfortunately, there is no way to manipulate the weather. You can determine your re-booking if you’re a pre-paid customer who has booked in advance. When you verify your new date and time for the tour, check if there are better seats available. For example, many tours will be postponed to the following day and many passengers will not be able to make that date and time.

5. You will be offered the most affordable rates. This is one of the most common questions I hear: ?Is it best to book bus tour seats on destination, or in advance?? You know my answer: Always buy in advance. You will always end up paying more for tickets in Las Vegas. You will always save money if you take the time to book in advance. Additionally, you will find the best deals if you shop online. I’ve seen some that take 35% off. You also must keep in mind that prices go up during peak travel seasons. If you want to travel during these peak periods, you can get the best savings online.

Some Grand Canyon bus tours will take you to the West Rim of the Canyon, while others will take you to the South Rim of the Canyon. The West Rim, which is just 120 miles from Vegas, is famous for things to do like the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The South Rim, which purists refer to as the “real” canyon, is where you go for scenery. This is the longer tour, since it is 270 miles out of Vegas.

You can do some things on the West Rim that are not offered on the South Rim; such as taking a helicopter ride or hopping in a boat and exploring the Colorado River. South Rim tours can be upgraded to include a helicopter tour across the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest part of the national park.

Not only will a shuttle pick you up at your hotel for your trip, but you can expect to be served breakfast and lunch. The coaches are rather impressive with large viewing windows, lounging seats, televisions, and clean bathrooms. You also get to learn from your driver, who will be a trained guide full of information. One thing I love is that the narrations provided during the tour are offered in ten different languages.

Canyon bus tours from Las Vegas are the way to go if you are looking for an inexpensive but fun day trip to the national park. Since all trips are all-inclusive you simply show up with your curiosity and enjoy the beauties and adventures of the Canyon. Due to their popularity, I highly recommend that you book in advance. You don’t want to endure the trauma of trying to book a seat in Las Vegas, so take my advice and book early.

Travel reviewer Jenny Ducate is an expert in Grand Canyon trips. If you are searching for a bus tour, she recommends these: http://www.grandcanyonbustours.org/best-grand-canyon-bus-tours.html

A luxury ski hotel goes beyond immaculately groomed trails and short lift-lines and applies luxuriousness to every amenity and service available. The difference between luxurious ski lodging and standard slope accommodations are striking, but knowing what to look for before booking your trip helps ensure a truly spectacular ski vacation.

Ski-In/Ski-Out Units –

Many of the best luxury hotels have units that offer ski-in/ski-out convenience. This convenient and luxurious amenity means your room or condo sits directly on the mountain. The limited amount of slope-side lodging on any mountain makes this feature available only at the finest luxury resorts.

• Ski-in/ski-out accommodations means no dragging and loading your ski equipment to the mountain every day.

• Since no transportation is required, members of your party can come and go as they please to enjoy the slopes.

Heated Outdoor Pools –

At a luxury ski resort, cold, snowy weather won’t prevent you from enjoying a relaxing post-ski dip.

• Not only is the pool heated to a steamy temperature, but the surrounding space, pool deck and hot-tub also have in-ground heating.

• Many units at luxury ski hotels even offer private hot tubs for a long, relaxing soak.

Personal Service Amenities –

Luxurious ski lodging provides you with an abundance of personal services throughout your stay. You’ll have access to 24 hour concierge services, ski equipment transportation and storage and much more since your pleasure should never be farther away than the nearest phone. Common luxurious service amenities include the following:

• Valet services to eliminate dragging your ski equipment back and forth to the slopes every day. If you’re not in a ski-in/ski-out unit, this is a very handy service that you’ll definitely want to take advantage of.

• Private massage service in your room or condo.

• Errand service for grocery shopping and other essentials while you enjoy the slopes.

Wellness Amenities -

A luxurious ski lodging won’t make you choose between relaxing wellness facilities and world-class ski conditions. Even the most avid skiers will appreciate the following non-skiing activities, available only at luxury ski resorts.

• The extensive fitness center at a luxury ski lodge includes the latest weight-lifting and cardio machines, along with towels, water bottles and locker rooms.

• The steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi will ease your sore muscles after a hard day on the slopes. The best resorts even offer massage services to help loosen those tight muscles.

Remember, even the most luxurious hotels have a range of units. Just because a luxury ski hotel boasts private steam rooms in the deluxe suites doesn’t necessarily mean all guests’ accommodations are equally luxurious. Verify which luxuries are available only to specific units and which amenities are available to all guests, such as a heated outdoor pool.

Anyone who spends money on a Beaver Creek luxury rental expects certain features. Ian Pope enjoys yearly ski vacations and prefers Beaver Creek vacation rentals over other ski locations.

Taking a winter ski vacation in a great resort with amazing views of the mountains can seem too expensive for a lot of families. Most people don’t realize how many ski vacation deals are available — you just have to spend a little bit of time researching in order to find a great deal that fits your family’s lifestyle and budget. There are several tips that families can use to save money on a ski trip.

1. Book in early fall. Most people aren’t thinking about skiing down a mountain and sipping hot cocoa as they are picking out pumpkins and enjoying apple cider, but the beginning of October is when the best ski trip discounts are available. By booking before the official ski season begins, families can secure their spot at a great resort and begin planning the trip of a lifetime. THe best time to book a ski vacation is between the beginning of October and the end of November.

2. Avoid booking on the weekends. Many locals typically hit the slopes on the weekends, making a Friday through Sunday stay quite pricey at the best ski resorts. By staying during the week, a family can take advantage of great weeknight prices while also enjoying the slopes all to themselves. Many people don’t think about organizing a Monday through Thursday vacation, but this can save families a bundle when planning a winter ski vacation.

3. Check out local tourism agencies. Most large ski resort areas have tourism bureaus and agencies associated with them. These organizations aim to promote the area, resorts and local attractions, so those planning a ski vacation will often find great ski trip discounts through these agencies. It’s also a great way for families to get a feel for the local area and find some of the best shopping, dining and other attractions in the area to truly have a well-rounded vacation.

Ski vacation deals are not as hard to come by as it may seem. All it takes is a little research and a little knowledge and the next thing you know you’ll be enjoying a wonderful ski vacation with your family. It’s a great way to enjoy the winter months, and to spend time with family. Whether you’re skiing down the slopes or enjoying the snow or you’re snuggling at night in a cozy lodge in front of the fireplace and a mug of hot chocolate, everyone will have a great time when you get to take that ski vacation and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Deanna Leevy lives for finding great Vail vacation packages to save money on her ski trips. Vail.com is a great online resource for finding Vail hotel deals.

By Deanna Leevy

A great winter vacation for the whole family that involves skiing will make for a fun and memorable vacation. Even though a good portion of your vacation will be spent on the slopes, it is important to book your stay at a ski hotel the whole family will love. When you sit down to plan out your vacation, consider your family’s wants and needs when it comes to deciding which of the mountain hotels you’ll want to stay in. Use these considerations to help you sift through all the lodging options available so you can find a hotel to complement the rest of your vacation plans.

• Consider Your Family Makeup. Even though your teenager and your four years old won’t be interested in the same things, there are hotels that have things both age groups will be interested in. When looking for the best lodging for your family, be certain the one you choose offers something for everyone. An indoor or heated swimming pool and play area for small children will help keep everyone happy.

• Location, Location, Location. When you have vacation activities planned it is nice to spend time enjoying them, rather than wasting a lot of time getting to them. By booking a hotel near where you’re going to be spending most of your time will ensure you’re not wasting any time every day traveling around.

• Activity Availability. Even though you’re planning a ski holiday it is wise to make sure other activities are available at or near your hotel. Even though you’ll want to spend a lot of time on the slopes, this will make sure you’ve got things to do when you’re not skiing, especially at night. A hotel that’s located near a shopping area or one that has spa services offers alternatives that provide enjoyment off the slopes.

• “Can We Come Here Again?” You know you’ve picked the right hotel if family members ask to come back again. It’s a great feeling to know you’ve provided your family with a place to relax and enjoy. Doing so requires a little pre-vacation effort but is well-worth it when you have evidence that the experience was enjoyable to all.

There are many mountain hotels that provide you and your family with close proximity to the slopes, as well as other activities. By choosing a ski hotel your family loves you can create a home away from home that you look forward to returning to vacation after vacation. Take the stress out of vacation planning by using the tips above to ensure you have booked the best spot for you and your family members.

Deanna Leevy found the best Vail hotels when she decided to take a Vail, Colorado vacation of a lifetime. With listings for Vail resorts, hotels and many other great locations for you to stay in, Vail.com has the perfect place for you.
